A Slow Walk Through the Fall Foliage

Have you ever taken a few hours to just walk slowly through a forest?
And I mean so slowly that you notice things you would have otherwise passed by, if you were hiking at a brisk pace.
It takes quite a bit of time to cover any amount of distance, but it enriches the experience so much more.
There's something special about just allowing yourself to slowly wander and take in everything that's around you, without any particular goal or destination in mind.
Everything in our modern lives in rushed, and as adults, we're always doing what we can to move toward our goals, and it can be pretty exhausting at times.
When you slow down, you see things in a whole new way. Instead of a blur of vegetation, you see individual leaves and different shapes and colors.
Things that may have seemed bland or boring at first glance are absolutely fascinating up close.
And you notice amazing creations that you would have never seen, if you hadn't taken the time to slow down and look.
It makes me wonder what I'm missing out on in life, by rushing through it - trying to get everything done and focusing my energy and effort into my future, rather than paying attention to what's happening right now.
They say the present moment is all we have, but how often are we ever truly engaged in that present moment? It's an interesting thought to think on.
Thanks for reading along! I look forward to connecting with you next time!

Hi, I’m Kristen!
I envision a world where you and I rediscover what it is to be human, through connection with ourselves, each other and the natural world around us.
