Saying Goodbye to Frida

Death is a fundamental part of life, and it's one of the only things that's truly guaranteed to us.

However, when death occurs, it seems to take us by surprise, even when it's something we were expecting.

I had to put my big baby Frida to sleep last week. She was seemingly fine one day and then over the course of two weeks she went so far downhill that I knew it was her time.

Frida was 13 years old, so I intellectually knew she didn't have much time left on this earth, but her decline still felt so surprising and unexpected.

I've been going back and looking through old photos and videos of her when she was younger and healthy, and it's helped me to remember what a good and full life she had—a long life, mainly free of pain and suffering.

Little Maggie is doing really well, which I am so beyond grateful for. Frida was her best friend for 13 years, so I was a little concerned about how she'd react, but I think she knew that her sissy needed to go. She's been getting lots of extra attention, treats and new adventures.

I made a video for Frida to commemorate our time together. She was a sweet and loving girl and she will be thoroughly missed.

I envision a world where you and I rediscover what it is to be human, through connection with ourselves, each other and the natural world around us.
