Fall is almost over
The beautiful fall leaves have mostly all fallen this past week.
It got super hot out, baked the color out of the leaves on the trees, then the wind picked up and blew them off, and then we had a freeze.
I've been watching the leaves and estimating when they'd be at their peak in certain areas.
According to my non-professional estimation, (basically based off my observations over the last two years, here), this week should have been a gorgeous week in my "home" forest, and I had plans to get out and do some more filming.
But that little unexpected leaf catastrophe made me change my plans.
My "home" forest isn't actually close to home at all — it's about 40 minutes away and slightly higher elevation than where I currently live, so since it's not looking so hot here, I imagine it'll be looking a lot less hot there.
Nature isn't supposed to be predictable though.
She doesn't follow anyone's schedule.
She does her own thing.
And if she wants to eliminate her colorful leaves sooner than expected, she can do that.
At least I got to see what I was able to see.
I think next year I’ll block out two weeks to just focus on the leaves, though. It’s such a short period of time and I’d really like to capture more of it.
Hi, I’m Kristen!
I envision a world where you and I rediscover what it is to be human, through connection with ourselves, each other and the natural world around us.
